Our Purpose
The Mount Olive Chronicle is an independent digital news publication serving Wayne County, Duplin County, and the greater Mount Olive community. Our editorial mission is to provide accurate, fair, and community-relevant journalism that holds public institutions accountable and keeps residents informed.
“We are accountable to our readers — not to shareholders, advertisers, or political interests.”
Authorship and Bylines
Every article carries the byline of the journalist who reported and wrote it. We do not publish anonymous news content. We do not use artificial intelligence to generate news articles. All reporting is conducted by named human journalists.
Reporting Standards
- Verification. Claims are verified against primary sources before publication.
- Balance. Parties subject to criticism are given a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication.
- Original reporting. Our content is reported and written by Chronicle staff. We do not republish press releases as news without independent verification.
- Photography and image credits. All images are credited beneath the photograph — staff photos, wire services, or licensed stock providers. We do not use images without proper licensing or attribution.
Corrections Policy
When we publish an error, we correct it promptly. Corrections appear at the top of the affected article, clearly labeled. We do not silently edit published stories. To report an error: corrections@mountolivechronicle.com
Editorial Independence
The Chronicle’s news operations are entirely independent of our advertising relationships. Advertisers do not influence, review, or have advance knowledge of news coverage. No coverage is sold, traded, or guaranteed in exchange for advertising.
Sponsored Content
Advertising is clearly labeled “Advertisement.” Sponsored content is clearly labeled at the top and does not represent the editorial views of the Chronicle.
Affiliate Links
Some links may be affiliate links. These do not influence what we write or recommend. Articles with affiliate links include a disclosure.
Letters to the Editor
Letters may be edited for length and clarity. We verify the identity of letter writers before publication. Submit to: letters@mountolivechronicle.com
