The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying individuals who may have been involved in or witnessed altercations during President Donald Trump’s Oct. 7 rally at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio. The office released a flyer on Monday, Oct. 12, featuring images of those they want to identify as part of their ongoing investigation.
Details of the Incidents at Freeman Coliseum
During the rally held on Oct. 7, several confrontations occurred between protesters and attendees. President Trump appeared in support of Republican candidates Ken Paxton for U.S. Senate and Carlos De La Cruz for Congress. Deputies escorted 18 people from the venue for disruptive behavior, though no arrests were made. Instead, two criminal trespass warnings were issued. The sheriff emphasized that while there were no major incidents, any form of political violence is unacceptable.
Video Footage Highlights Confrontations
Local media footage reviewed by the Express-News revealed at least three separate incidents where protesters were seemingly assaulted while being escorted out. In one video, a man grabbed a protester by the hair, almost pulling him to the ground. Another showed a man lunging at a protester before security intervened, and a third depicted a woman pushing another woman down the stairs as security removed her from the Coliseum. These videos have prompted the sheriff’s office to seek public help in identifying those involved.
Sheriff’s Office Requests Public Assistance
On Oct. 12, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office released a flyer with seven images of people they want to identify relating to the incidents. The office has noted that some individuals involved have not pursued criminal charges, and others have not reported offenses. The sheriff has not disclosed whether those pictured are suspects or witnesses. Sheriff Javier Salazar stated, “Thankfully, there were no major incidents at the rally last week. However, any form of political violence, no matter how minor, has no place in our society.”
How to Provide Information
Anyone who recognizes the individuals in the flyer, witnessed any incidents, or has relevant information is urged to contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. Tips can be submitted by phone at 210-335-6000 or via email at BCSOTIPS@BEXAR.ORG. The sheriff’s office continues to review reports and video from the event as part of the investigation.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office’s call for cooperation underscores the importance of maintaining public safety and addressing any acts of violence, no matter how minor, at political events.
