Darline Graham, newly appointed South Carolina senator, was escorted from a “coffee and conversation” event in Greenville on Wednesday after being confronted about allegations involving her late brother, Lindsey Graham, and male escorts. Patrick Howley, an outspoken anti-Trump commentator and self-described “citizen journalist,” pressed Graham on claims made in a recent documentary accusing Lindsey Graham of hiring male escorts, including one who was a minor at the time.
Confrontation at Greenville Event
The incident unfolded during an event hosted by the 4th District Republican Club and News/Talk 98.9 WORD radio station. Patrick Howley attempted to question Darline Graham directly, asking, “Will you be honest about your brother and the alleged use of male escorts?” before being blocked by an unidentified man. Howley persisted, trying to ask if Lindsey Graham was homosexual and pressing for answers about the abuse allegations.
Event staff intervened, with one man stating, “OK, well, this is a private event,” and warning Howley not to circumvent security. Despite repeated calls from attendees to remove Howley, he remained defiant on social media, tweeting, “Darline should have just answered my questions about Lindsey’s gay escort accusers, one of whom was 17.”
Allegations Detailed in New Documentary
These questions stem from a 33-minute documentary released last week by Swamp Watch Studios and The Young Turks. The film features interviews with male sex workers who claim they were hired by Lindsey Graham. One man, who identified himself as Kelvin, said he was 17 years old when he met Lindsey Graham in 2001. Kelvin recounted how Graham asked him to verbally confirm he was 18, implying that the interaction was being recorded.
Kelvin recalled, “I was like, ‘Wait, I don’t want to be filmed,’” and Lindsey Graham responded, “We’re not, I’m not filming you—I just want to get this, I just need to get this proof.”
Lindsey Graham’s Legacy and Darline Graham’s Role
Lindsey Graham, who passed away at age 71 in July, was known for his three-decade-long opposition to same-sex marriage, workplace protections for LGBTQ individuals, and open military service for gay people. After his death, his sister Darline Graham took over his Senate seat and has continued his political crusade, which has now been overshadowed by these serious allegations.
Darline Graham’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the incident or the accusations against her late brother.
Event Hosts Respond to Disruption
The 4th District Republican Club and News/Talk 98.9 WORD described Howley as “an unruly attendee” who caused “a disruptive scene” leading to his removal from the event. No further details were provided about the event’s proceedings following the confrontation.
As the controversy continues to unfold, the allegations raise questions about the private lives of public officials and the scrutiny their families face in the political arena.
The incident in Greenville reflects a growing tension between political figures and citizen journalists attempting to expose controversial claims.
Whether Darline Graham will address these allegations further remains to be seen as the story develops.
