Rockstar Games is providing players with a free upgrade path for Grand Theft Auto V to current-generation consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This offer is available starting June 18th for individuals who own GTA V on PS4 or the digital edition on Xbox One. The upgrade allows players to obtain the current-gen version of the game without any additional expense.

This complimentary update eliminates the need to purchase a new copy of the game, which would typically cost $39.99, or pay a separate upgrade fee. Rockstar Games announced this offer as part of a larger update to GTA Online. This update will also introduce the capability to execute heists at the Kortz Center, scheduled to be available in July.

The announcement comes as anticipation builds for GTA VI, which has a release date set for November 19th. A new trailer for GTA VI is still awaited. Information regarding the price of GTA VI has not yet been released. However, other game developers are reportedly adjusting their release schedules to avoid competing with the launch of the highly anticipated title.
