Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has issued a dire warning about the consequences of a Democratic sweep of the White House and Congress in the 2028 elections, claiming it could lead to the “end of democracy.” Ahead of the upcoming midterms, Musk outlined three major moves he fears the Democrats would make if they gain unified control of Washington, urging voters to support Republican Senate candidates to prevent what he calls a permanent one-party state.

Musk’s Three Key Concerns About Democratic Control

In a post on X, Musk detailed his “biggest concerns” if Democrats secure the presidency, House, and Senate in 2028. He highlighted three specific actions he believes the party would pursue to cement their hold on power. First, he warned Democrats would move to grant statehood to Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, a strategy he says would significantly increase their Senate majority. Second, he expressed fear that the Democrats would legalize immigrants currently living in the country illegally, thus expanding their voter base and electoral advantage. Finally, Musk cautioned that the party would expand the Supreme Court by increasing the number of justices to secure an immediate ideological majority.

According to Musk, these moves combined would transform America into “a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word.”

Urgent Appeal to Protect GOP Senate Control

Musk has been a vocal supporter of Republican candidates in the lead-up to the midterm elections, stressing the importance of maintaining GOP control of the Senate. He argued that Republicans need at least 51 seats after the 2028 elections to block the changes he fears Democrats would enact. Musk made a direct appeal to voters, writing, “That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one.”

The Senate remains highly competitive, with six states still undecided in the battle for majority control. According to Fox News Power Rankings, Democrats could reach a maximum of 54 seats, while Republicans might retain control with up to 52 seats.

Musk’s Financial Support for Republican Campaigns

Backing up his warnings with action, Musk has contributed hundreds of millions of dollars to Republican political groups ahead of the November midterms. A representative for his America PAC confirmed that Musk donated $276 million to Republican super PACs and organizations in the previous three months. Significant contributions include $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, aligned with Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., and $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC, which supports Texas Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton.

Musk’s extensive financial involvement has drawn criticism from Democratic figures, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She accused Musk of using his fortune to influence the midterms in favor of President Trump’s party, writing on X, “Elon Musk is flooding the midterms with money to help Trump. But even his millions may not be enough to counteract reality.”

Musk’s Broader Political Message

Musk’s warning comes amid his ongoing efforts to influence U.S. politics by supporting candidates aligned with his vision. He has repeatedly emphasized the risks of a Democratic supermajority, portraying it as a threat to the nation’s democratic framework. His stance underlines the high stakes perceived by some GOP backers in the 2028 elections and reinforces the narrative of fierce partisan competition ahead.

As voters head to the polls in the midterms, Musk’s message is clear: the battle for the Senate is crucial, and the future of American democracy hinges on which party controls the upper chamber.
