Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on October 25 that the United States has fully restored its warnings about imminent Russian ballistic missile strikes, a critical element for Ukraine’s air defense capabilities amid continued conflict with Russia.

Restoration of US Ballistic Missile Alerts

Speaking to Ukraine’s TSN television channel, Zelenskiy confirmed that US warnings, which had recently faced disruptions, are now fully operational again. These alerts are essential for Ukraine to prepare and respond to ballistic missile threats from Russia effectively. He linked the positive development to discussions with US special envoy Steve Witkoff during a meeting in Oslo.

Starshield Satellite Internet Speeds Recovered

Zelenskiy also highlighted that SpaceX’s Starshield satellite internet service has resumed high operational speeds, reaching up to 420 kilometres per hour since early Saturday morning. This came after earlier in October when the service was throttled due to diplomatic pressure from Washington on Kyiv. The restoration of full bandwidth supports Ukraine’s communication and defense systems.

Conditions for Halting Strikes on Russian Infrastructure

The Ukrainian president addressed the US demand for Kyiv to suspend strikes on Russian oil refineries, which Washington argues have contributed to high energy prices. Zelenskiy stated that for Ukraine to stop these strikes, Moscow must first cease attacks on Ukraine’s power infrastructure. Alternatively, the US should allow Ukraine to use Starshield over Russian territory to detect missile launch sites or supply Ukraine with Patriot missiles to bolster its defense.

Upcoming Technical Talks and Ukraine’s Red Lines

Looking ahead to technical discussions scheduled for November involving Kyiv, Moscow, and Washington, Zelenskiy made clear that Ukraine will not negotiate any limitations on its armed forces or accept enforced post-war neutrality. Ukraine continues to pursue NATO membership despite hesitations from some member states. The president also reiterated his call for a trilateral US-brokered meeting between himself and Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing that core issues, including territorial matters, must be addressed at the highest leadership level.

President Zelenskiy underlined, “The issue of territories is a red line that can be discussed exclusively at the level of leaders,” reinforcing Ukraine’s firm stance on sovereignty and territorial integrity amid ongoing hostilities.

These developments mark a significant step in Ukraine’s defense coordination with the United States as the conflict persists, underscoring the importance of international support in countering Russian aggression.
