Miles Taylor, a whistleblower from President Donald Trump’s first administration, has accused the current president of actions regarding Ukraine and Russia that he describes as “treason” and worthy of impeachment. Taylor, who served as Deputy Chief of Staff in Homeland Security, detailed a series of events this week that he says reveal a deliberate pattern of collusion with Russia during both of Trump’s terms.

Missed Missile Warnings and Throttled Communications

The controversy began on Tuesday when Russian ballistic missiles struck Ukraine without the usual advance warnings from U.S. satellites, resulting in dozens of casualties. While American officials attributed the failure to detect the missiles to “bad weather,” Ukrainian officials suggested interference within the U.S. system. The following day, Starshield—a military version of Elon Musk’s Starlink network used by Ukrainian forces to operate drones and counter Russian attacks—was abruptly throttled without warning. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed outrage, warning that “people will die.” Musk blamed the White House, stating, “Any limits on speed or usage are decided by the U.S. military and ultimately POTUS.” The White House has not contested Musk’s claim.

Suspicious Phone Call and Controversial Oil Deal

Taylor points to a “suspicious” phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin days before these events. After the call, Trump announced plans to purchase millions of tons of Russian diesel, violating sanctions he had recently signed into law. Republican senators have warned that this may have broken the law by financially benefiting a U.S. adversary. On the same day, Trump’s envoys reportedly warned Ukraine to halt attacks on Russian oil refineries or face a cutoff of intelligence support from Washington.

Public Statements and FBI Director’s Moscow Visit Taunt

After Russian glide bombs killed 20 people in Ukraine on Saturday, Trump stated, “It’s time for Ukraine to get a new president,” a declaration Taylor says Putin has long desired. Later, FBI Director Kash Patel responded to rumors of a planned visit to Moscow to meet with Russia’s FSB intelligence agency by sarcastically tweeting, “From Russia, with Love…”

Taylor’s Allegations of Treason and Abuse of Power

Taylor raised a series of serious questions about Trump’s knowledge and intentions, including whether Trump agreed to boost Putin financially, weakened Ukraine’s defenses, or ordered the Pentagon to restrict satellite communications during active Russian attacks. Taylor reminded that Trump was impeached in 2019 for withholding military aid from Ukraine to gain political advantage, calling the current situation “more serious.” He alleges Trump may have intentionally cut off early warning systems and battlefield communications to pressure Ukraine into a false “energy ceasefire” aimed at lowering U.S. gas prices before midterm elections.

Although Taylor acknowledges the situation may not fit the Constitutional definition of treason exactly, he asserts that “a president who puts his allies in mortal danger with favors to an enemy and for personal benefit has essentially done what treason describes.” He emphasized that impeachment is warranted for abuses of public trust such as using American intelligence as leverage against those it was meant to protect.

The whistleblower concluded that the country must confront whether President Trump deliberately weakened Ukraine’s defenses to help Putin carry out attacks and secure political gains. Taylor warned that while a special counsel was needed in 2017 to investigate Trump’s Russian ties, in 2026 the truth might emerge from a disputed weather report and a series of suspicious actions.
